As I've noted before, a blog is a great way to correct the record.
In an article about the mystery postcards, the Cape Cod Times wrote, "Putnam said he is talking with Vieira and Frank Duffy, the town's attorney, to come up with a way to efficiently record the votes of all town meeting representatives in attendance."
This isn't exactly what I said. In fact, I told the Times that:
-- I've been speaking with some town meeting representatives about this, and they are receptive to the idea of recorded votes so that our constituents can know how we voted;
-- In response to an inquiry I made about Section C2-5 of the town charter, Frank Duffy has offered his opinion that "if 20 members request a recorded vote, the moderator will conduct one."
-- I have not yet spoken with Moderator Vieira about this.
It's not exactly a "reform effort" but it is about open, accountable government.
