Navigating the Falmouth Local

This is the latest version of the "How To" guide to the Falmouth Local.

The left hand column is where you'll find my most current posts; they are ordered with the most recent being first.

Underneath the posts on the left is an Atom link. Atom is a syndication feed (like RSS) which allows you to subscribe to and view changes to a website without having to visit every day.

On the right is a link to older posts.

The right hand column includes a variety of information and links.

It begins with Falmouth News & Weather, which includes a news feed from Google that searches a wide variety of news outlets for anything that includes Falmouth and Massachusetts in the article. I've previously noted that Google does this for me, so the news is both diverse and surprising.

Beneath the news are several feeds for the Local Weather, including a link to AccuWeather.com and Weather Underground. If you click on either link, it will give you a full weather report.

Under the weather is a YouTube Video Bar feed with videos from Falmouth. This works like the News Feed, although it hasn't seen that many updates.

Beneath this are Brent's Falmouth Links - links to Falmouth-related organizations with which I have direct ties.

Further down are Other Falmouth Links - links to other Falmouth-related with which I do not have direct ties.

Next in line are the Links of Interest to Falmouth. These are links which are not specifically Falmouth-related, but do have some significance to our town.

Under this is a list of the Falmouth Local Archives - prior posts. Each post can have one or more labels which categorize the content. For example, Published Elsewhere displays all posts which have been published in other media (usually newspapers).

The Contact Brent section is next.

Finally, there's the About the Picture section, which describes the view you see in the title of the Falmouth Local.

Immediately below the quote is the North Falmouth Clear Sky Clock

Beneath that is the usual disclaimer and copyright statement.

Following all of this is a counter by Site Meter, which records the number of hits to the Falmouth Local.

I'll be updating this post whenever there is any significant change to the layout and/or content. Stay tuned!
