Post cards
Some post cards added drama to this town meeting. I've scanned one of the cards, shown at the left.
Apparently mailed from Tennesee, they suggested that town meeting representatives' votes would be recorded and shared with Falmouth residents. Some representatives were offended by the language, which could be considered threatening, but Moderator David Vieira refused to discuss it, since the cards were signed anonymously, "A concerned citizen."
I'm not sure how our individual votes could be recorded. Voice votes would be near impossible and the standing counts would be difficult.
However, there was a photographer wandering around who I did not recognize. During one of the standing votes, this person was behind me, taking photo after photo in rapid fashion as votes were counted and representatives sat down. It occurred to me later that this could be one way of recording votes, albeit a tedious one that would require pouring over the photographs to identify who was standing when. I wonder...For whom did that photographer work?
My campaign for open and accountable government was no doubt behind one person's question: "Did you send these?" No, I didn't. I make it very clear where I stand.
However, I am curious...Would the "concerned citizen" please identify themselves? I'd certainly love to know if they managed to record how who voted on what article.
