Swearing-in
A few of you have asked about when I become official and get sworn-in. Well, the clerk's office has to wait seven days to allow for any recount requests, challenges, etc. before they can certify the results as official. I don't have an exact date yet, but it will probably be sometime next week (after Memorial Day).
I'll let you know.
Signs
If you have one of my signs - or see one - please bring it by my place. We can reuse or recycle the metal stands, and it was reported that the Morse Pond elementary students may be able to use the corrugated plastic for an art project.
Let's try to keep as many of these out of the waste stream as possible.
Thanks again
So many of you have expressed congratulations, and I've tried to answer every call and email that has come my way. If you've not heard from me yet, you will.
On a personal note...
My father had a stroke, and I write this post from my brother's home in Maine. Fortunately, he was at a meeting of Boy Scout executives, which is probably the next best thing to being at a firefighter's convention or standing in the hospital when something like this happens.
He was initially paralyzed on his left side, but has since regained motion in his left leg, and has some feeling in his left arm. More importantly, he is fully aware of what happened to him and doesn't appear to have lost any memory - or his sense of humor.
My thanks to those who have offered prayers.
