A simple thank you

Two months ago I got an email. It was addressed to a large number of individuals with a simple request that we pitch in and help out a veteran who's water heater kicked the bucket. As I've done before, I wrote a check.

I knew the check had been received. I'd sent it to the Falmouth Military Support Group, and they acknowledged and thanked me for the donation. I had no expections of any additional thank you.

Two months later, I got this letter.

I've received all sorts of acknowledgements for the donations I've given, and a great many thanks for my work as a selectman, but of all the kudos I've ever received, this one touched me the most.

It is my hope that this anonymous vet sees this post and knows that I've received his thanks, and that it touched me as much as my donation touched him.

Thank you.
