Liaisons

What follows is an email sent to the Board at 10:49am on Sunday, September 12, 2010:

Attached are the draft liaison assignments. I use the term "draft" only because it may not be complete - there could be more assignments to come.

According to the charter, "The Board shall maintain liaison with all boards, commissions and committees..." (§ C3-7. E.) However, as I was reviewing the list, it became apparent that some were missing. For example, the Council on Aging and the Library Trustees.

Last year's list had 30 committees listed; this list has 38, but there may be still more, as I've heard that we had upwards of 60.

If so, the assignments listed won't change, it will simply have additions.

For the most part, everyone got their requests. Where there were conflicts, seniority took precedence. You'll note that I have liaison to the other elected boards; we should consider making this an established practice.

I apologize for the various emails and attachments. I've been working with Carole to establish our agendas earlier so that all of the information can be provided at once and far enough in advance so we've time to review it. I hope to establish some procedures around this soon.
