UPDATE...postponed to Saturday due to cloud cover.
As one of its 25th anniversary events, The 300 Committee Land Trust is teaming up with the Falmouth Sidewalk Astronomers to hold an astronomy night for families, Friday, April 23 from 7 to 10 PM at Peterson Farm.
The Falmouth Sidewalk Astronomers are an informal group of amateur astronomers dedicated to sharing the night sky with the public. The 300 Committee Land Trust is celebrating 25 years of preserving and protecting open space for conservation, recreation and water protection in Falmouth.
Families are encouraged to come to Peterson Farm and enjoy views of the April night sky, its moon, planets and stars. Telescopes and binoculars will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring their own, if they have them. Children as young as 5 or 6 can really have fun exploring the heavens. In case of rain, this event will take place on Saturday, April 24.
Directions to Peterson Farm: Go southwest on Locust Street/Woods Hole Road about one mile from Main Street, Falmouth. Turn right onto McCallum Drive and then turn immediately right into the driveway to the farm. Parking is available at the end of the driveway near the small barns.
