There were a few other hand written notes with names that were difficult to read. And during Mr. Morse's interview on Monday, June 29, another Falmouth resident, Ernie Santos, spoke in favor of Mr. Morse, as did another lawyer, the Honorable Gus Wagner (retired), and a constable from Barnstable, Lou Gonzaga.

The application for constable asks for five (5) references from "reputable residents of the Town of Falmouth, one of whom is an attorney-at-law." All in all, Mr. Morse provided no less than ten (10) references from Falmouth residents, two of whom are lawyers.

When I applied for my first couple of jobs, I would write my references. There weren't that many, and they weren't that impressive. However, as my career became established, my references morphed from names into actual written recommendations - letters with impressive letterheads. So, for my more recent jobs, rather than filling in the references section of the job application, I've written, "see attached", and provided copies of those letters. No one ever called me lazy.

However, Mr. Morse did the same thing, providing far more than the minimum required number of references, and yet he was called "lazy" during his interview.

To that I would refer the public to Nancy Andrade, who wrote in her letter, "Constable Morse is a well-informed, dedicated, hard working individual and is certainly an asset to the Town of Falmouth." Kim & Jamie Carroll, who wrote to Mr. Morse, said "The way you handled the matter was professional, sincere, and committed...It is rare to find someone with such work ethics and the willingness to go 'that extra mile.'"

Doesn't sound lazy to me.

Perhaps the most impressive feedback about Mr. Morse was the postcard from Hungary, dated November 1, 2007. The signature is illegible, but the sentiment is a good summarization of Mr. Morse's work as a constable, "Many thanks for your help."

Anonymous, I've seen that article. However, much as I don't want to belittle these incidents, I need more than dismissed cases and 30-year old convictions to vote against Mr. Morse. People make mistakes in life. In the case of Mr. Morse, I can find nothing more recent or more serious which would make me question his character. He made mistakes and paid for those mistakes. Indeed, everyone I've talked to speaks highly of Mr. Morse. If you want to convince me that Mr. Morse is not worthy of reappointment, I need more than a 13-year old article about 20- and 30-year old events.

They are indeed old cases, but god help us if that type of behavior resurfaces. As a constable, he was not just posting the warrant. He was going into homes and businesses and making warrant arrests, collecting debts etc. In many ways he carried himself as a police officer when he was performing his duties. When the police get hired they are required to jump through several hoops on there way to being hired. This isn't the con com or the planning board. Any person applying for this position should be subject to a thorough background check. I also read the article from south coast today...very disturbing.

George morse is a predator who uses his so called police authority to pray on weak women who's husbands work longreat hours. He uses his badge to convince these women he is there to help them then gains their trust and uses them sexualy while threatening their safety. He did it to my ex wife for 6 years. When will his wife and the town wake up??? Yes this was reported to FPD...
