The CPC extends this invitation:
The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) invites and encourages you to participate in a public meeting to discuss community preservation needs, possibilities and resources in Falmouth. The meeting will be held in the Main Street Library (Hermann Foundation meeting room) at 7:00 pm on September 11, 2008. Community input is an important part of the CPC’s work to implement the Community Preservation program for the taxpayers of Falmouth; we hope you can join us on the 11th to provide your valuable input.
As you may know, the Community Preservation Act (CPA) provides a special funding source that is dedicated to community preservation needs related to community housing, historic resources, land for recreational use, and open space. Since its adoption in 2005, more than $6.6 million in CPA funds have been expended on new initiatives to meet the community preservation needs in Falmouth, in addition to $8.2 million in CPA funds that have been expended on Land Bank debt repayment.
The CPC’s charge is to evaluate community preservation needs, possibilities, and resources and to make recommendations to Town Meeting for the appropriate expenditure of CPA funds. The CPC invites your participation as we consider the following topics:
· Community Preservation Act state-wide updates and news, presented by Stuart Saginor, Executive Director of the Community Preservation Coalition
· Updates (completed or in progress) to town-wide plans related to the four CPA categories (community housing, historic resources, open space, and recreation)
The meeting will also include time for public comment and questions related to the CPA. Comments and questions may be submitted ahead of time or at the meeting. Additionally, the CPC invites feedback from community groups regarding the ‘Leveraging our Resources’ workshop that was held in March 2008. Also, if you would like to provide input but are unable to attend the hearing, please submit your written comments and/or questions to Jessica Erickson, Assistant Town Planner/Community Preservation, 59 Town Hall Square, Falmouth, MA 02540 by 4:30 pm September 9, 2008.
