The news this morning includes an article in the Falmouth Bulletin, "Gilbane defends work on high school project: Role is advisory," which exposes a rather troubling fact - that Gilbane "can advise but cannot directly tell contractors what to do."
Hmmm...so if Gilbane can only advise Falmouth about what should be done, then who's minding the store?
Who is managing this project?
Who is responsible?
Who is accountable?
In other news, I picked up the first of several documents that I requested from the school department - the RFP's and contracts for the high school renovation project.
I quickly discovered that the contracts refer to the plans - there's little in writing because so much is in drawings. However, I'm not going to bother with the drawings. The deficiencies or failures that brought us where we are today will be revealed in the change orders and the communications between Gilbane and the school building committee.
I'll let you know when I get those and what I uncover.
